Welcome to EarthquakeAdvisor. This page is to tell you a couple things about what we do, why, and how to find what you're looking for.
Two things we do:
1) Provide you information and resources about earthquakes.
2) Tell you where to find the companies and products that will make you safer when the next quake comes.
One reason we're here:
1) To make you safer when the next quake comes.
Two good things about us:
1) We will listen to you. We've put email-us buttons all over the site so we can hear you better. Tell us what you are looking for that you couldn't find, what you want on the site that isn't here yet, what you like, what you don't like, or what doesn't work on your browser.
2) We're new. We'll be putting new information on the site every week. Come on back whenever you want and check our front page for new featured items. Click on a keep-me-posted email button and we'll let you know when new information is published. If you tell us what you want to see here, we'll work on that before we work on something noone's asked for.
One bad thing about us (we're not claiming there aren't more):
1) We're new. There, we've said it. Now you don't have to feel bad about letting us know how to improve.
Three ways to find what you're looking for:
1) Check the front (home) page. The left hand column has links to service and product providers. The center column features items we haven't featured before. The right hand column has links to some of our special departments.
2) Use the navigation buttons at the top and bottom of each page, from the Right:
Features - General interest, historical, technical info on earthquakes. If you're new to quakes check out the FAQ's. Here, too, is where to find what other readers are saying, Real Sories, Earthquake Tips, and Earthquake Chat from real people (as opposed to us unreal ones).
Safety - To do's and supply list for home, special needs persons, business, school, vehicle, and pets.
Financial help - Earthquake money and insurance.
Find Services - Our service locator will find service providers, for example a contractor or engineer in the area you indicate. You can even narrow your search by specific keywords to find exactly what you need.
Products - Find where to go for virtually any earthquake realted product, from safety kits to chimney straps.
Terms of Use - Important legal information. It's short, better read this part for yourself. This button is on the bottom bar only
3) Use the search window in the upper left just below our logo. Enter a search word or words. You'll get a list of links to all the pages containing your search word(s). Right now the list only shows our internal page name, which doesn't give you a clue as to what the page is about until you click it. We're working on that. But in the meantime it does give you the pages.
