A moderate earthquake awakened many in Southern California. The temblor had a preliminary magnitude of 5.4 and shook a wide portion of Southern California and was felt from downtown Los Angeles east to Riverside.

The quake was centered about 4 miles north of Big Bear City and 28 miles from San Bernardino.

Several aftershocks occurred immediately after. A magnitude-4.5 followed one minute later and another measuring 4.2 one minute after that.

There have been no reports of injuries or damage.
